Your Invisalign Questions Answered

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign sitting in its caseInvisalign uses clear aligners to shift your teeth efficiently and invisibly!

To begin, our Invisalign Dentists take X-rays and scans. Then, we’ll use those images and a mold of your teeth to make your custom aligners.

Once they’re ready and you come in to pick them up, we’ll talk you through the aligners, including maintenance tips and how often to switch them out.

Some processes move quickly, while others take a bit longer—it depends on the current state of your teeth and how often you wear your aligners (which should be whenever you’re not eating, drinking, or brushing your teeth!). Before you know it, your teeth will be nice and straight!

How Much is Invisalign?

Invisalign costs differ between dental clinics, but in most cases, Invisalign is a more economical choice than traditional braces. Your insurance may cover Invisalign, or you may be able to use pre-taxed dollars from your FSA or HSA plans. Beyond that, there are financing options available! At Dakota Dental, we strive to make our services affordable for our patients.

Invisalign vs. Braces: Feel the Difference

Invisalign

Discreet. Clear aligners slip right over your teeth.
Comfortable. Trays are trimmed right to your gum line for maximum comfort.
Removable. That’s right, eat and drink without your aligners.
Efficient. The average treatment for Invisalign is only 7-14 months
Easy to clean. Take them out and brush them when you’re brushing your teeth.

Braces

Visible. Those metal fixtures and bands are front and center.
Uncomfortable. Braces can be exceedingly irritating to gums and cheeks.
Fixed to teeth. With braces, you’re with them until they finally come off.
Slow. The average treatment time for braces is 24 months.
Tricky to clean. Braces are notorious for bits of stuck food.
