- Pick the Right Brush – Always select a toothbrush with soft bristles. Depending on the size of your mouth, you may opt for a brush with a larger or smaller head. Try several sizes and find which one is most comfortable for you!
- Take Your Time: You should brush your teeth at least twice a day for 2 minutes each time. Many electric toothbrushes have built in timers to track this for you. Another good way to time yourself is to listen to a pop song while brushing as they are typically between 2-3 minutes long.
- Know When to Change: When the bristles on your toothbrush become bent, discolored, or dirty, it’s time to get a new one.
- Massage Don’t Scrub: Many people make the mistake of brushing too hard believing the more they push the whiter their teeth will get. This actually does more harm than good. Think about massaging your teeth by brushing up and down instead of scrubbing them from left to right. Also, don’t forget to brush the inside of your teeth as well!
