Dakota Dental Wants You to Enjoy the Summer and Protect Your Teeth!

Dakota Dental reminds you to be careful and avoid summer dental emergencies.

It is officially summer, and your friends at Dakota Dental Family Dentists wish you a season of having fun and making memories. Get out and enjoy the weather, the lake, the cabin, and those summer sports! However, Dakota Dental also wants to remind you to be careful because summer dental emergencies can ruin a sporting event, a weekend at the cabin, or a summer vacation.

Benjamin Franklin advised “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” At Dakota Dental, we couldn’t agree more. Visit your family dentists for checkups and cleanings to keep your teeth healthy and strong. Wear protective gear – including a mouth guard — when playing sports, in-line skating, or skateboarding.  Do not dive into shallow pools or lakes. Always wear a seatbelt, and never use your teeth as a tool to open, pry, or cut things.

Another important prevention to take is having a plan in place, just in case dental emergencies occur. Because a permanent tooth can often be saved if quick action is taken, it is essential to know what steps to take. These steps include saving the tooth or pieces of the tooth and placing them either between the cheek and gum (if there is no risk of swallowing them) or to place them in a container of whole milk. An essential step is to contact a Dakota Dental family dentist in Apple Valley, MN, immediately.

At Dakota Dental, we accommodate dental emergencies. Many times, especially with children, the tooth will reattach with proper dental work. Further treatment may be required to prevent darkening or infection, but your Apple Valley dentists at Dakota Dental will work with you to achieve the best possible outcome.

For all your dental service needs, including dental emergency services and cosmetic dentistry, contact Dakota Dental, your Apple Valley Dental Clinic.
